Backyard Wedding - Ashley & Steven

We love Ashley and Steven. I can't even begin to recount how many adventures we've had together: from frolicking at SPU in our college days, to watching the boys cut down a holly tree in our back yard with a Sawzall. From the top of a 20,000ft mountain in Bolivia to lounging in the Mediterranean in Turkey. We were thrilled and honored to both be a part of their wedding parties as got married this summer.

The wedding was at Ashley's parents beautiful home on the water near Quilcene, WA. Matt & I hit the road early afternoon on Thursday and made it over in time for some setting up/decorating and dinner on Thursday evening. There were already 20 or so people there so Matt and I camped in the back of the Xterra, while others were in tents and various locations.

Friday morning we started out with some clam digging, supplying a part of the wedding meal. We filled up about 3 buckets in 45 minutes and I was pretty impressed, both with our speed and how good they were the next night! The rest of the day time was pedicures for the ladies and various set-up and decorating activities.

Friday evening was the rehearsal at Ashley's place and then up to Port Hadlock for the rehearsal dinner at the lovely Ajax Cafe. They had a multitude of hats lying around which made for great fun for all the guests. After a another night in the Xterra we were up early to continue the decorating process and then it was time to get ourselves cleaned up for the actual event.

The wedding ceremony itself was lovely and included a lot of personal touches from Ashley and Steven. The backyard had been transformed and Ashleys hard work & creativity showed in literally every adorable detail. Dinner (wholly made by family and friends) was fantastic and then it was on to dancing. Everything about the night was a blast and we had so much fun celebrating their LOVE. Hopefully they're settling back in at home in Denver now and we can't wait to get down there again to see them!!

All the rest of the pics are by miss Valerie Chisum! I was too distracted running around and while Val was busy herself during the ceremony she captured some lovely ones while running around before and after.

  1. What a beautiful setting, details, food, everything, and they SOOOO lucked out on the weather!! Beautiful, and we are so happy for the wonderful couple. Umm . . when do you get to the point in life where you don't camp out in cars anymore? What's wrong with tents?
